It’s that time… New Year is one of the most motivating times to get our $%&! together, Right?! And I have been long over due for a Clutter Clear Out and Organizing in general. Somewhere between traveling, day trips, conventions, volunteering, sports, starting projects (not finishing), rehearsals, family outings, friend outings and … LIFE. Time just gets away.
It is official, my family has become quite brilliant at the “Plop and Drop”. Piles here. Piles there. We have kept things for far too long. We have half started projects with hopes of finding the time to finish them. Truth, we must make the time. And… you know, I did go on “Strike” haha… Fed up with cleaning this room or that room… Only to have my husband get a sudden surge of energy to finish floors. Absolutely, destroying everything I just spent time on. A 3 year upstairs flooring project, I finally said “Enough!” and asked a family friend to come help finish it. I actually… got tired of hearing myself complain! lol Peace of Mind… The Master Bedroom Flooring is finally done!
Here we go! Where did all this random stuff come from? I can’t seem to find anything now a days… from Water Bills to Medical paperwork. I am just grabbing this or that and taking it from this clean area to the next without putting it in a proper place. How much time have I wasted looking for this or that?
Reality check… My water got turned off in December! It happened before about 10 years ago. The infamous Water Bill saga… Yep, I thought I paid it. This is where I need to seriously think about “Auto-Pay”. At least now the company will take payments over the phone. I would have been mortified having to drive down there. Scene: I had just put on a facial mask, went to shower and yep you guessed it… NO WATER! Ridiculous… lol
I sent this image that morning to my Godson’s mom. Telling her “I am running a bit late… Water Got Turned Off” (insert laughing emoji). It of course, was a homeschool day.
Last year, I did take some pinterest advice and made this “Life Binder”. Every Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Old Passports, Church Certificates, in a Bright, Easy to Spot, Binder (pictured above with mod flowers). And a file for “Kids Shot Records”. OH MAN! Did it SAVE ME! Applying to put Logan on a Performance School Waiting List. I immediately found what I needed to get the App completed! Yay! Me!
Proof, organizing is a TIME SAVER! It can be overwhelming… I truly don’t enjoy it… unbeknownst to my husband (really?) Why do men assume women enjoy these things? SMH. I do enjoy “My Time”… And that makes organizing worth it. So Start! Start somewhere! I started with the binder. Today, I am onto the Refrigerator, Pantry, and Loft area of my house (with the help of my kids). The Garage is NEXT!
