We didn’t have our annual party this year. You know what? I kinda missed it. We just had a little too much going on. However, last minute our baby sister Krissy had the night off. To her dismay, she was astonished we weren’t even going to watch it together and so last minute she came over with Mom. As you know Roni and I are already TWD fans, as Sunday nights go Sal and Jess come over to watch with us. So I was like “Sure!” let’s watch it together (like we use to back in the day.) Of course, I had already committed to taking Sophia and her friend to the aquarium that afternoon too. This would be a full day. I’m rather optimistic and with Paxton’s help, we had a little fun pulling together an Oscar-worthy dinner.
My list included the champagne (I had just bought some new flutes), sparkling apple cider, flowers (always need fresh flowers when entertaining), oh and some cucumber/mint to make fancy water in my new pineapple drink dispenser. While I made the flavored water, Pax assembled the chicken marsala in our crockpot and Sophia arranged the flowers.
My mom and sis got to my place before I did. Paxton graciously entertained them until I got home and our other guest arrived around 5. The meal and drinks were a great hit. I even have our annual tiara for the best picture win in my possession now, thanks Mom.
The Oscars were weird all around for us this year. No party, 20th Century Women only got one nod, the AMC showcase my mom goes to was a bust and well we all know how the Oscars ended. I’m happy A24’s film Moonlight won best picture.
So that’s a wrap! Until next year when I’m sure Roni and I will be back to hosting the annual Oscar party. – T*
